  • I run into Viking lander stuff almost every day. I still don't have one. I am working on the sailing ships, not space ships.

This is the Limited Edition Eyewitness Lunar Landing Medal 40mm Sterling. I believe these were handed out to VIP's who were present at the Launch of the Rockets to space. image

Cool medal, you can start to complete any Space Theme of your collection----today I got a letter from Israeli Coins and Medals corporation --the launched special coins set , devoted to Israeli space programm, and the previous issues were devoted to Columbia Shuttle --great medals minted BEFORE the tragedy!image

With the new push to go back to the moon and eventually on to Mars,,, These early space medals could have some value shortly.image

I collect the space medals and tokens because they're interesting and there is some
extremely good art work on some of them. There are those who collect the rarities
and some of these pieces have been extremely "hot" for years. There are many hundreds
of various medals including relic and pieces which were actually carried aboard or were
issued only to the astronauts or a few insiders. Most of these were made in much more
significant numbers and it is likely to be a long time until the number of surviving pieces dips
below the number of collectors. More space activity should at least mean a lot of new
medals to find, if not a sizable increase in demand.

Thanks Shipcoin. They do look nice but such items are often available more cheaply on the after market.
I do miss some great coins or medals by waiting though. The Israeli's have put out some spectacular
issues over the years and they are among my favorites.
