i,ve heard of them. not a highly rated service at all.

they grade about as good as ACG or the new PCI.
in other words, not good at all.
run for the tall grass. thats my best advice on this so-called coin grading service.

Condor101 is the guy to ask about specifics on grading companies, but I'll vote with Cam40 on this one. I've seen a handful of them that didn't come close to measuring up to the "Big Three".

Here is an example of their work. They streched the grade this far so they may of well have just called it a MS70 DMPL

(I am new so I probably didn't post the link correctly. I am a newbie so please cut me some slack. I will learn with time!)

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Actually, Conder is not the person to ask--he knows about companies and their slabs, and no one will argue that he doesn't know his stuff, however, in a very professional manner, he has refrained from giving grading opinions--his reserach is on slabs, and not abilities image (on the other hand, if you wanted to know how many atoms are in that slab, Conder might know image)

  • Thank you Jeremy, quite right. (WelL I don't know about knowing how many atoms. image )

Which CCGS are you talking about? There have been two companies using those initials. If the company is usning a plain Capital Plastics type holder I'm interested in them. That company/holder is VERY tough. The company changed its name twice in a matter of a month and the CCGS, and DCGS versions of there holder are rare. Currently that company is NSCGS and they have used two slabs varieties under that name.

The much more common CCGS has been around for a couple months now and has been asked about here on the forum at least four times. The location of the company is not known. The slab is PCGS sized but is made of a softer plastic like SEGS rather than the acrylic plastic that most services use. It is identical in size and design to those of PCGA with the exception of the sticker used for the back label. (PCGA appear back around October of 2003.) The quality of the slabs is VERY good, the quality of the grading ability is your call. Look at the coin and grade it yourself, see if you agree with them. And do so on many coins before you start to make blanket decisions about the company. Every company has accurate and erroneously graded coins in their slabs (Yes, even ACG.). Don't base your opinion on a company on just a few isolated examples.
