PSA Las Vegas Summit

I've heard mention of a PSA Summit in Las Vegas...is this just for dealers or are high-profile collectors invited? Does anyone know what issues will be discussed? Did anyone from this board get an invite?

  • I'm in Vegas for a convention in March as well... I'd be curious to see what this is about...
  • The "Summit" is by invitation only from Joe Orlando. It is for the major PSA dealers, who get together to discuss the current state of PSA and the sportscard marketplace. Arrival is usually on Wednesday morning, with a social get together at one of the casino hotels. On Thursday's the meeting is set up, usually mid-afternoon to discuss a pre-arranged topic, with the topic this time "PSA in 2004 as well as Industry and Market Trends." After the meeting, a nice dinner (jacket and tie preferred) is usually at one of the nicer restaurants in Las Vegas. Hotel rooms for two nights, plus the social gatherings are provided for by PSA. Airline and other transportation expenses are up to the attendee.

The only requirement is that attendees are to provide a 50 card minimum submission at $25 per card ($1,250). The cards are submitted on Wednesday morning (or even earlier) and returned Friday morning before the dealers leave.

I have been invited to several, but have yet to attend.

Sounds like a nice little pile of horseshat to me.

    Let's see:

Regular submission at $8/per = $400, leaving $850. Last "during the week" visit I got four nights at Paris and airfare for $425. $850-$425=$425. That's one heck of an expensive dinner!

seems kind of weird to require a minimum submission to get in the door.....

At the Hugo Boss summit....attendees have to purchase 3 suits before entering the door.....
  • wonder if davalillo got an invitation

    Hmmm....

Is this the supposed source of the half-point idea being floated last year? Are invitees necessarily dealers or "submitters"? Are all "dealers" necessarily "submitters"?
