What difference does it make to say your a Bronze Power Seller?

So far it appears to be of no real benefit from what little research I've done.On the PS message board someone said that at the bronze level it's just something you can tell your friends about but that's about all I see so far.

Hopefully there will be a way to make it worth more than just something to say.

So far, when going to the forum I've been hazed and welcomed by some pretty funny ebayers.

In fact, the best thing to come out of being bronzed/hazed and welcomed was.....

    Edited

Some guy named Jim on there has a rating of 998975 posted this.
  • I always wondered that myself, I've been a Gold Power seller, and a Silver Power seller 3 times and Bronze once, I feel like an olympian.

The sad part is if you don't keep up the selling quota for 3 months, Ebay will strip your Power seller status away or drop you to the next level. I've been stripped 3 times.

I've been lazy in doing ebay, it just isn't exciting anymore. They have already made a ton of money off me and every now and then I get an e-mail asking me to come back to being a power seller. Lately I've declined, I'm just too lazy to keep up their selling quota.

Anyone else had their status stripped and come back.

  • If it made a difference from a buyer's standpoint, it would help. Unfortunately, some of the biggest crooks on ebay are powersellers, both in service and feedback. (No offense to those on the board who are powersellers)

Jery,at the levels above bronze aren't there a handfull of discounts of some kind?

If there was anything that I was looking forward to it was that.

how can i find out what level of powerseller i am?
    ·p_A·
  • Pandrews- ebay will mail you a certificate every Quarter with the level status you are. Or you'll get an e-mail from ebay letting you know you are being either raised to the next level or dropped a level, or that you haven't brought in your quota for the 3 months, and that you need to bring it up with a month probation. Don't worry if you lose your status, just sell like crazy the next time and you get it right back.

    Jery

Also there aren't really any benefits for a Bronze Power seller level, I believe you need to get to the level Silver to get over the phone help with ebay customer service. You'll need to click on the Power seller symbol to get the real info.

For those that have lost their Power seller status symbol next to their user ID, and the next time ebay offers you the chance to come back, you can chose to "opt out" and not have the symbol next to your name, but have a giant Power seller logo in your ME page. This one doesn't dissapear, until you decide to remove it yourself.

    Hope this helps!

I've been offered by eBay the role of PowerSeller several times, and I always turn it down. There are PowerSellers that have many negatives and offer poor customer service, so I don't need an icon by my name unless there are some benefits. When I bid on auctions, I do not bid any more to a PowerSeller then I would to a non PS, nor would I garner more bids if I were one. There is feedback instituted by our ID's, click it and see how good or bad the seller is, no need for a Gold, Bronze, Silver or Green icon to tell me otherwise...Just my .2 cents...jay

Jay,I got the notice this morning that I could join.I figured that there were some benefits on listing fees and what have you.

So far everyone on the board over on ebay says it's more a status symbol.

As it looks,it doesn't hurt but it doesn't look like the bronze is going to help much either, however over bronze things look interesting for those who sell in the figures required.

ROB - You are correct, it doesnt hurt, but then it doesn't help either. You don't save anything off of the fees. I think they give you a phone # in case of problems, but then knock on wood, I haven't had really any problems that warranted me calling them. If I thought there was a benefit (real or perceived) I would sign up. It just didn't seem that important to me...jay

Same here. I seem to get this invitation for a Silver Star every month for over a year. eBay can give me all the perceived status they want......I'm still a nobody image
