Who just dropped out of the top 20 lincolns and ...

Just wondering who dropped out of the top 20 lincolns (09-58) because it looks like a lot of people just moved up a spot. Just wondering if it is because of more "no grade" coins. And while I am at it, when will PCGS learn to do its math correctly. For some of the "no grade" coins in Stewert's set they count the old grade and for some they do not. That and about another 10 or so sets are off by +/- 0.01 or 0.02 because they round a weird way. Well enough stalling from doing my homework. Keep an eye out this weekend for my updated Lincoln Spreadsheet.

  • I don't know. I deleted a coin and moved 44th to 48th. I see on the all time list Stewart's set is back to 101% red.

  • When a coin is listed as "no grade" what exactly does that mean????

I guess it's still "all about the registry numbers" for some of us. Fortunately, Stewart isn't "going crazy" to get his set listed back as #1. Why, because he KNOWS what he has and he doesn't have to spend crazy money to race after all the top pop coins. He doesn't have to run to his computer and change the registry number on his "no grades" in order to again be #1. He knows he is #1 because his peers recognize he is #1. Can't we all just participate in the registry without all the competitive and monitary energy to be #1? Realistically, I guess we can't. JMHO. Steveimage
  • All fine and dandy steve, but if PCGS is going to put up the rankings that a lot of people seem to like, then they can atleast do it correctly. The reason I asked this question was I was wondering if another set was up for sale and where/when would it be.

Michael, fom my understanding, a "no grade" is a cert# that use to be valid, but because of some reason the cert# of the coin changed and the old cert# is no longer valid. PCGS when through and deleted these numbers from their db recently and instead of deleting the coins from people's set, they just deleted the grade.

  • I think they should hold off on starting any new sets and clean up the existing sets. There are enough of these small glitches in various sets that are annoying. I think items like the pop reports / price guides and registries should be fixed before moving on.....
  • Steve,

Stewart is not "#1 because his peers recognize he is" he is simply #1, he does not need his "peers" to recognize this. "he doesn't have to spend crazy money to race after all the top pop coins." Maybe this is because he owns nearly all of them. Stewart seems to be very interested in the 1910-S in 67RD so how do you really know that he is not chasing it.

  • Then "no grade" means no coin?

If there isn't a coin then why even have it listed as "no grade"

    I am very confused!!

    Clackamas,
I guess we both agree about Stewart. I bet we also agree that he sometimes says the wrong things on these boards, but I will defend his right to say them. My guess is that Stewart is not after this 1910S unless he sees it in person. The scans don't look like MS67 material to me and I don't think Stewart is buying labels. Obviously, if he does buy it, he will have satisfied himself that it is better than his current MS66. JMHO. Steveimage
