Thoughts about grading--

I'd love to talk about sports registry sets but I collect vintage Mars Attacks, Civil War New and Arm & Hammer cards. Since my original cards were tossed years ago I'm slowly piecing together complete sets in the highest grade I can afford. It surprises me though when I receive graded cards back that are slightly off focus with print marks on the borders and receives a higher grade than a perfectly focused card with strong color but one corner might have a slight imperfection not visible to the naked eye. Also, many of the off center cards I have received back hardly look off center to me. Wishful thinking? I don't know. But since my previous post clarified the significance of a off centered card is it worth sending in some of the borderline off center cards for regrading? If some of my cards are off center it must be by one degree. Maybe I'm dreaming . What's your opinion? I'f it's not worth sending in for another look I might be having a sale.

You ALWAYS want to avoid receiving qualifiers if your looking at grading from an investment standpoint.
One thing you might want to consider when submitting your cards is to request "no qualifiers" on the invoice. I can't speak about non-sports cards but, as someone mentioned, 9oc's can often be had below (and in some cases far below) the price of a straight 7 for many baseball issues.

Talk away! This is not the "PSA Sports Set Registry Forum", it is simply the "PSA Set Registry Forum". Though a large % of the posters here are baseball card collectors, I welcome discussions about oddball sets, even non-sport. It's a nice change of pace from the threads about the same sets over and over again (the Mars Attacks set does get discussed every once in a while, though).
As a collector, if you like the cards you have graded, don't worry about what the grade says. If you are worried about investment potential/future value, you may want to resubmit a few. But, as GoSoxBoSox stated, be aware of the grading standards first.
How about some scans of your cards? I always enjoy threads with scans!

I think Mars Attacks cards are really cool. Every so often I start thinking about putting a set together, but I talk myself out of it. How hard are they to find? are you finding raw cards and having them graded? how tough of a set is it?
JIMTB...graders are pretty tough on the Non-Sports sets of the 50's and 60"s. You're better off buying PSA cards on EBAY. PSA 7 Mars cards are coming down in price now..they were going for $200-300 last year. Now they can be had for $80-100 each!
Always looking for 1957 Topps BB in PSA 9!
