I'm an autograph collector myself. However, I can't bring myself to get them 'authenticated' by PSA when I was the one to get the autographs in person. I'm not planning to sell any of the ones I have since I'll probably just want to pass them on down to my kids, etc.
I mainly collect UDA/WGA Wayne Gretzky items and also SF 49ers/SF Giants/Julius Erving autos. I'm thinking about collecting hockey sticks signed by hockey hof's too.
I hear ya on the PSA deal. Luckily for me i have obtained all of autographs in person at PSA events so they were then graded right there as a courtesy. Out of the hundreds of autographs i have only one was not acquired in person and that was a Bill Russell ball, but that was acquired from a very reputable source.
I am attempting to collect the autographs of every University of Florida athlete who has played in the NFL, NBA, and MLB. I have well over 100 of the football players, about half of the baseball, and only need a couple of basketball players (there haven't been that many Gators in the NBA). I send trading cards to some, and custom index cards or photos to the others. Response has been great. I don't know of another collection like it anywhere.
FSU - where the women are women and the men are too!
My favorite autographed piece is my Kerwin Bell autographed game-used Toronto Argonauts jersey. It's a cool looking jersey signed by one of the greatest QB's in Gator history. I also like my signed SI cover of Danny Wuerffel.

<<<What type of stuff do you have in your collection besides autographed cards? >>>>
I manly collect cards, but have a few vintage baseballs. Now that PSA is going to start slabing any autograph with the word Authentic on them, I'll be soon sending in some cuts of signature so I can add autographs to my HOF set that would be impossible to find on a card.

What is your favorite piece in your collection?
Mine would have to be my Bernie Williams 1994 Game Used Bat.
Anyone else???
