Merc Addition - Here's the '25 65FB YIPPPEEEE

This was in the mail tonite - that 1925 in 65FB that was "leaked" out last week - well this tough date went byond my expectaion an is indeed a super example for the grade. Practically pristine fields, gorgous eye appeal - these two scans do no justice but it is my feeble attempt to take photos image
Wayne, I'm truly sorry I see I passed you by 1 point or was that a 10th of a point - go easy on me image

P.S. There is no line on reverse nor a black dot right of Fasces - a fairlaneman or a russ I'll never be image

    Hi Marc,

Congratulations! I knew it was only a matter of time before you passed me, and was wondering what had stirred up that breeze I felt. Now I know! Nice dime, the fact that you are happy and bragging lets me know that it is a nice one. Don't forget that 24-P that I have on Ebay. It's a really nice coin for the grade and would make a nice place holder for your set until you could find a nicer one in 65 or 66FB. I really wanted to hold out for a 24-P in 66FB, but just couldn't pass up the nice toned 65FB dime that I bought. I'll be testing you from time to time, so watch your rear view mirrors!

    Regards,

    Wayne

  • What do you think of my sig coin? In a 5 holder, but should definately be in a 6 holder, and I think it's a STRONG 6 too, 1 mark on the face, 2 or 3 in the fields near the legend, and some light chatter in the reverse fields... Will be my Icon after the next Icon Upload day...

    Marc,

Congrats on a very nice coin!image

We've got a real horse race going, with you, Al, Wayne, and me all clustered very close together. It won't take much for any of us to break out of the pack, but in the long term, my money is on you and Al, with your higher GPA's.

thanks guys - Jim I don't know the last few pieces are giving me a real run besides I just can't find them in the state of preservation I'm looking for. I reckon it's gonna take some time but that may be just as well too image

Wow, some Mercateer action! I thought we all fell off the face of the planet! Nice job, Marc, we do need some more action on these boards!

Pretty nice coin you got from that seller wouldn't you say Marc ? I just knew it would be to your liking. Its to bad he does not get more good looking Mercs in his inventory.

Nice coin, great date, underpriced and under appreciated....image

Nice addition I'm hoping to add a dime or two this year myself but have to wait until the right deal comes along

    Marc

I have bought coins from him before and been very pleased. Two of them are still in registry sets here with a couple of our guys. I will say it killed me to pass up that 25P but things were just to unsettled.

The other answer for you is that I have been busy for a few days so the boards got left out. It looks like I will lurk around for a few more days and then it will be "Poof I'm Gone for Awhile".

    thnaks Walt,

Ken if I were you I'd purchase a laptop with a dsl connection you can log on in many places or a wireless - these days it is not so difficult besdies you may just really need a fix often during any given day image JMHO, it may be worth a quick sale of a merc for financing...yikes!

    "Poof I'm Gone for Awhile".

yup , you can say that again - or are you image

Can anyone explain the availability issue of 1925 dimes in true MS grades etc. ?
Pop reports enough of this date to have at least a number of examples show up within any given year at auction or for sale etc. - yet that is not so. These 1925-P FB Dimes are just not available often at all, and when they are - just not acceptable examples at least for me - any comments?

    No Poof Yet !

Still have been busy running around with this house thing. What a pain it is nowdays. Yesterday it finally closed so we are packing and starting the move this weekend. The youngest boy is really trying to get rid of us I think.

I will still be on line untill probably next Friday. Could go "Poof" before then but I think the new Mercs will not be here untill then.

On the 25P's I have no answer. A couple of years ago a few showed their face all at once and since then they have been scarce from what I have seen. I really think this is a example of one of the dates where the Pops are all goofed up. JMHO as usual.

I agree - I'd guess that of the 68 pieces or so pieces graded HALF are either not in existance anymore due to crackouts, and other over the year malaise - it's got to be that as so few have been sold - I believe Fivaz Coll sold by B&M had none either.
