1963 Topps Baseball question

Can someone tell me which manager card in the 63 set is missing the team emblem in the design? The card is weird and I can't remember who it is or what team.

    Harry Craft #491, Houston Colt .45s Manager does not have a team logo.

    Most, if not all, the single player cards in the 1963 set have a small circle photo in addition to the big picture. Harry Craft's is mysteriously missing. I surmised that Topps had only one picture of the guy.

    Houston team card had no logo either. Perhaps the Houston franchise was pondering a change and hadn't alerted the TCG company as of the printing deadline.

    As an aside, through 1964 they were known as the Colt .45s. In 1965 they became the Astros, but the first series cards (1-109) in 1965 had only "Houston" on the pennant logo on the card. The second series added "Astros."

    Back then, news travelled pretty slow from Houston to NY?

    Back to 1963, two trivia questions:

    1) Which teams had no manager cards? HINT: Two from AL and two from NL.

    2) What is the highest numbered card in the 1963 set with a green border?

    On a related note about Houston. In the 1965 set, Houston is the only team not to have a team card, all 19 others have a team card in the set, and it always seemed odd that they were not represented...jay

    Jay , The 1964 Topps set also was missing the Colt 45's Team Card - all 19 other teams had a team card ! Never really thought much about it , until I read this thread ! Strange , that they had a team card in '63 , but not '64 or '65............ Robby

    Correct. Whitey Ford, the last 5th series card has a green border. The sixth and seventh series had no green bordered cards. I haven't checked but there may not be any butterscotch colored ones either.

    The missing manager cards are KC A's, Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals.

    the last butterscotch border card is #440 juan marichal.
