Toned GSA CC

Got this in one of the last CC dollar sales of the GSA back in the 70's. I ordered 75 of them but the offer was oversold so the GSA limited everyone to 5 and still many orders were unfilled because they ran out of coins. I was lucky and got 2- 1885 CC, 2- 1884 CC, and 1- 1883 CC. @ $15.00 a coin.

What do you think the grade is.
It is still in the GSA holder and looked like this when I received it.
The reverse is blast white.

You got a very nice 1885-CC there!! Back when you purchased it the GSA called that a "tarnished" coin and sold it for $15 vs $30+ because of the "tarnish".

Today you can get a premium for the same attractively "toned" coin because of the beautiful "toning"...

  • Are you nuts paying $15 for a dollar?

(that is awesome, nice score. Looks 64ish to me)

Nice color. Difficult to call the grade due to the darkness of the image but I agree with wingedliberty.

Thanks for the responses. I have it in my database as a 63. Guess I should bump it up to a 64.

But don't crack them out to get them graded!
They are worth more in the original GSA slab.
If you really want to get them graded, I think NGC grades them and leaves
    them in the holder.
