Anyone know any history on this New Zealand token?

I intend to bid on this token but would like someone who knows any history on these to comment. Thanks...image

It's certainly cheap enough...imagetoken

I'm going to image an AU 1937 and 1943 New Zealand sixpence and shilling I picked up Friday-this token design is reminiscent of the crouching warrior on the shilling.

Bet we're not the only ones tracking this one...image

Oh, I'm sure about that! I was surprised by the low price this far in.. but then again I don't know what I'm looking at.

I really like those old shillings too. The pennies are nice also.

Unfortunately, no. However, I wouldn't doubt there were periodic shortages of coinage in NZ in those days. It's certainly very nice artwork!!

Tokens exist for both Australia and New Zealand. I have several different ones, including one of these that I got on eBay for $18.

Unfortunately, I do not have the standard reference on these tokens. image

It's listed in Krause 19 Century 1st edition page 865 as:

    Milner & Thompson, Christchurch, Penny KM# Tn48 VF $10, EF $60

    Good luck
