Opinion Please on this Morgan

Please give me opinions on this raw 1880-CC Morgan I saw for sale.

I know the pictures are not perfect, so please don't comment on the quality of the pictures. Thank you!

  • Looks kind of flat/dull. I don't care for it.

  • the pic lacks detail ~
  • For an 1880CC it looks pretty darned nice. 1880CC's were full of problems and a lot of them come with kind of a milky tone to them. Something to do with the way they were stored. But I'm willing to bet this coin is quite interesting in hand.

If it's as lack-luster as the pic depicts---MS62.

Probably an MS-62 1880-CC, but difficult to be specific with any certaintly based on the poor image resolution. Contact marks would grage MS-63, strike MS-62 and luster MS-62. Therefore net grade MS-62.

Obv appears to be flatly struck over the ear, and coin appears to have below avg mint luster.

CC Morgans are typically well struck with excellent mint luster, so this would be a below average CC Morgan coin.

  • Looks like a nice one! However, the pics are somewhat dull.
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

I believe the 80CC Morgans are known for weak strikes.

A mininum of marks but a weak strike so I grade the picture no higher than 64.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • It may just be the pics, but I agree with others that it looks dull. Decent strike though. If the coin is as dull in-hand as in the picks, it may have been over-dipped or even cleaned. Just MHO.
