Whats it Worth? 1977 NGC MS67 Clad Ike (pictures added & on ebay)

I have a 1977 NGC MS67 Clad Ike (pop 1 at NGC) that I was thinking of selling on eBay, but I am not sure how to price it. I saw a 1978 NGC MS67 (pop 2 at NGC) recently sell for $2950 on eBay. The reserve was $2950, and there was only one bid at $2950, I think the next closest bid was $850. Any ideas or suggestions on the best way to sell this coin would be appreciated. Anyone know what it would be worth if it crossed to PCGS?

  • Look at history @ Heritage, Teletrade and see if you can get a better feel for the price.

On teletrade one PCGS MS67 sold for $625 in 1996 and $380 in 1997. On Heritage one 1977-D PCGS sold for $6037. So it is hard to tell from those prices what the coin might be worth.

Offer it to the guy who brought the 1978 for the same price as the 1978.image

I, personally, would rather it go through Heritage or Superior before sticking that thing on eBay. A pop top on eBay may not fetch what the market is willing to bear. I have several coins here that, if I wanted to sell, I would only do through one of those auctioneers.

I agree with Rampage, put it in a Heritage (Signature) auction. And of course if it is crossable at the current grade or higher, get it in a PCGS holder.

Sell it to me. I end up buying them all anyway!

TT has one (1978-P) in an upcoming auction. It also is Pop 1 (I think). It's been bought once and returned.

    Send me a PM

The price for NGC is dependent on the quality. A PCGS piece of that same date is worth about $4000. I bought her sister (a 77-D) in PCGS MS67 recently for around that number.

    TT 1978-P NGC MS67

I don't think the coin will ever be crossed to PCGS. Price says it all. image

A PCGS 67, I think would be worth more than $4k. I don't think your piece would cross on most days, as it seems to have a few marks on the cheek and rims. The crucial eagle wing high-points do seem clean however. Let's see how you do on ebay.

I checked your auction. You have a $2,720 bid, but your reserve is not met. Do you want to reconsider your reserve? $2,720 is not a bad price. Maybe you will get more, but I would be satisfied at $2,720.

I would also think a PCGS MS67 of that coin would go for more than $4,000.00. I saw the TT auction sold for less than $1,700.00, so maybe you would want to reconsider your reserve on that coin. Depending on how much you have in the coin, you may be doing quite well with the current price.

Of course, if the reserve is not met, then you can consign it out to Heritage or something to get auctions at FUN next year. Should get your $4,000 to $5,000 out of it.
