Colonial Gold?

Hi,
Would you guys consider this a colonial or just a world coin,
Since this is the first year of the US minting our own coinage?
Were they minting gold or still using these.

  • They used Spanish and British (and also French and Dutch )gold coins here in the late 1700's. Your 1793 British gold coin wouldn't be in the Colonial era, but it might well have circulated here in the 1790's, in the early United States period. I don't believe the U.S struck their own gold coins until 1795.
