1948-52 Exhibit Football

I recently picked up a couple of Exhibit cards, intending to have them slabbed. I sent the first to PSA, and it was returned "no holder available." I thought that was odd since there is one in the pop report and there are several baseball Exhibits in the pop report. I was told on the phone that PSA stapped grading the football Exhibits because there are too many counterfeits. Two questions:
1) Isn't that one of the things I'm paying PSA for, to tell me if my card is counterfeit or not?
2) Is anyone familiar enough with this issue to advise me on indications or counterfeiting? The card I sent in did not have any obvious signs - it was not glossy, had moderate wear commensurate with the age, and was toned.

No such details will spoil my plans...
