    MBFAM,

I thought you HAD a paying gig? image

Nicely written article from a 'techie--go ahead, give away the secrets to setbuilding to everyoneimage

Hope they throw you a pass for the Nat' by inviting everyone to Clevelandimage

Really, congrats on a job well done.

    Acowa- Well done, again.

    Very nice article.

Still has to be a large budget though, as even with Acowa's helpful tips, its a very expensive endeavor.

Best part of the article, IMO:

"Quite frankly, a perfectly centered PSA 7 set can have every bit of
naked eye appeal as their PSA 8 & PSA 9 counterparts even though it
may not technically make the higher grade."

GREAT article, Alan! It took me months to gain the same amount of
knowledge you provided in that article. Only thing you did wrong was
you didn't write it two years ago when I started my set -- you could
have saved me a lot of headaches & money!

Speaking of the National... I never thought I'd consider driving 3 hours
just to go to a card convention, but I just might have to go this year...
  • Best thing about the article was the link that let me know about this discussion list.

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards
  • Excellent article. Good guidance for those of us on the budget-minded set building road.

Welcome to the boards, Paul! Hopefully we'll get even more knowledgable
collectors on here adding to the discussions (much like yourself) thanks
    to those links.

When I brought up the main page to the set registry forum tonight,
I was surprised to see 1967 Topps was such a hot topic all of a sudden.
I see you've found the "search" button, Paul. image By the way, I don't
collect '67's, but I've always thought it was one of Topps finest sets
and that it had the best overall photography in a Topps set. Some day
I might just try it. Good luck with your set!

    Alan,

Very well-written article. Must-reading for any new collector.

  • Impressive article Alan! Well done.

He did say "naked" though so it's sort of an X rated article.
  • Nice job Alan. It's nice that one of us steps up to contribute to the hobby. The rest of us are selfish selfish selfish!!! image

Hopefully the article draws more collectors onto the boards. Our community needs some new blood and fresh perspectives.
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
  • Cudos Alan,
