Home Buy, Sell, & Trade - U.S. Coins

What is your current pet peeve?

Mine is the use of the word "original" which I believe should mean a coin which has never been cleaned and shows no trace of ever having been cleaned. Just because a coin has been slabbed does not automatically entitle the coin to be designated as original. Just because a coin has great eye appeal does not automatically entitle the coin to be called original. Any coin that is hairlined cannot be called original with rare exception.

Right now collectors are drawn to coins that are advertised as original and sellers are abusing that word big time.

It is frustrating to purchase a coin advertised as original and receive one that obviously is not. It is now mandatory to call or write the seller and ask what he/she means by original.

    My pet peeves:

NEWPS - I hate the term. I can't even get past the term to look at the offering.
Estate - Seems it takes forever for some sellers to "liquidate" an estate.
PQ - What hype..what dealer DOESN'T tell you it's PQ for the grade...sheesh
Original - As in "Original Roll" of Morgan silver dollars, and they're all in a plastic tube. Am I supposed to believe that these were taken out of a roll and someone didn't just put together a solid date roll? BTW...I'm not aware that they ever "rolled" Morgans.

And last, but certainly not least...It's people beginning a post on the wrong forum, like this one! Everytime you post something like this on the BS&T forum you knock someone's "FOR SALE" item off the page! Now let's just let this one die along with some of the others.image

    Cheers,

Some one posting the SAME message on 2 different forums....this posting is already on the Coin Forum so why post here? (the BST is OBVIOUSLY the WRONG place).

how about we make it a Pet Peeve on this Board???

    1. People that DO NOT for some reason put Ebay in the title of their thread but yet put "For Sale". Please save many of us time and put ebay in the title so I know I won't have to look then.

    2. People that find it necessary to post 5 different coins on 5 individual threads and TTT them each regularly.

    3. People that post threads on here where there are no coins actually forsale within the thread. B/S/T not B/S/T/AA (advertisement) board.

I'm a dealer, and I never use that term unless it's merited. ...and I ALWAYS get a premimum when I use that term b/c I have a number of customers that trust my word.

My pet peeve for today is that DCAM Toothfull Mike Sleezak on Coin Vault or Home Shopping (both the same to me) stating how a 1963 proof penny brought $51,000 at the FUN show. Funny how he had lots of proof sets for sale with the same exact penny in it. He failed to mention the rest of the story on that fake $51K bid and that the coin really didn't sell. Mike Sleezak....do you have stock in ultra-brite whitener??
