    Yes, you did Glenn!! image

That said, I'm not altogether sure this isn't a more modern copy. There are stylistic differences in the designs and sort of what looks to be a "mintmark" at the bottom of the rev. Moreover, the edges are rather smooth and rounded. If "modern," it could be a very recent counterfeit or perhaps a Renaissance-era copy. These latter became popular as classicism enjoyed a revival in Europe and are scarce and valuable in their own right. We need one of our ancients experts to give us their assessment.

Nice denarius, if it's real! It doesn't automatically scream "fake" at me... looks OK. If it's a copy, it's one that might have fooled me.

  • Thanks for the info!

I know nothing about Ancient Coins. I can say that I was very excited when I found it, but I guess there is a very good chance that it is a "modern copy".

I think that I might put it up on eBay and see what happens.

    Thanks again,

It is most decidedly a fake. The flan shape and obverse detail are very wrong. There's a good chance you'll see a seam if you look at the edge. I don't know what that thing is beneath Victory in the exergue, but it is not supposed to be there either. Sorry to rain on your parade, but someone had to do it. image
