Proof sets in Mint Holders VS PCGS Slabs

Are my Proof sets worth more if they have been cracked out and graded by PCGS or if they are left in the original Mint packaging?

I have some silver, clad, and SMS sets, and a few older 1964 and before.

I have been considering having them graded. THought I would get an opinion.

  • I would let them in the mint holder unless there is a coin that would grade cameo or decam.

You're likely to get a small premium for average graded proofs, but the grading fees will consume any benefit and then some - unless we're talking 1930's-40's proof sets.

I don't think any of the ones you've mentioned would be worth grading unless they are ultra-gems.
