OK- I have an idea.
Something occured to me tonight as I was putting up some auctions, and I thought I'd post in hopes that the powers that be at PSA might turn their ears this way. In sum, I think PSA should start their own auction site; or, barring this, at least maintain a page where people could, for a small fee, put up their cards for sale at a set price. The advantages of this, as I see it, are as follows:
1) I would help generate more interest in PSA cards, or at least draw more casual collectors into the PSA community.
2) It would help facilitate the exchange of PSA cards, something which can only help PSA. Consider this: I, for one, have a bunch of PSA graded cards that really aren't worth anything-- perhaps 6-10$ on the bay if I'm lucky. This includes a handful of '72 baseball PSA 8 commons, some Kellogg's PSA 8 football, some '70 and '71 hockey, etc. etc. Now I'd like to move these cards, and give 'em a new home, since I don't have any need for them. But I really don't want to go through the hassle of scanning them, giving those buzzards at ebay a cut, shipping them, yada yada yada, for six bucks each. In an ideal world I'd sell this stuff as a lot, but Jay Wolt has already taken everything off my hands that he wants (thanks, Jay), and I'm not going to get rid of this stuff for 3 bucks a card in a lot deal on ebay. So, the next best option would be to put them up on a board, let 'em sit there for a month or so, and hope someone bites.
Of course, there's no where now that I can do that. And so, since I'd rather not screw around with ebay, scanning pictures of cards that may not sell, I'm stuck with them. However, if PSA came to the rescue (insert trumpet audio here), none of us would have this problem. Instead, we could get these cards, at a reasonable price, into the hands of people who would like to make a quick, easy transaction and put these cards in their registered sets.
It seems to me like a slam dunk. Registry participants have a place they can go to buy--not bid on, which I think can be a total drag-- decent cards, and sellers have a place where they can liquidate their marginal assets. Ebay's great for stuff worth 50$+, but I don't think it works nearly as well for the low-end stuff. It's just too much work, for such a little return. But PSA, I think, could plug that hole.
Just an idea.

So it would be good to have something w/ just prices on PSA's (w/ scans). Be it singles or lots of PSA cards.
By the way, you missed 1 of the Hockeys, noticed your auctions and I need another one...jay

Reap the whirlwind.
Need to buy something for the wife or girlfriend? Check out Vintage Designer Clothing.
The current buy/sell/trade boards are not very effective as they stand. Everyone is lsiting cards without prices and that is pretty useless. Set prices would work much better.
Are you too stupid to read the other content to figure it out?
<< <i>Why not just edit your mistake so its easier to read? No need to insult me for the error that you made, dork. >>
Chill Igloo. koby's a regular contributor with solid opinions. Until you add value here your attitude lose the flair. Hang out guy.
Noname,
Gottabuyit...
Same m.o., hopefully same result.
If you just joined the boards today how could you possibly understand my previous post?

There is no central wepage where I can instantly click "1973 Topps" and then see all the cards for sale by PSA members. Even better would be an automated rating system to see past trades and transactions. You can often ask others for referals, and I'm sure 99% of transactions run smoothly, but it would still be nice to have it all laid out right in front of you.
Nah. Just kidding.
<< <i>I've been reading koby's posts and I don't see anything interesting or informative about them. The guy's a clown. You seem cool though. >>
Oh. In that case have at him!!
