First coin ever graded by PCGS

Hello, David. I remember many, many months ago there was an announcement about the 8 millionth coin being graded. Any record as to which coin was the first ever graded?

    Hi Joe,

I don't remember what the first coin was and we weren't smart enough to take pictures and keep track.

When we started PCGS we thought it was a good idea that would be used by a few of the more reputable dealers. We thought we would probably do 2,000 or 3,000 coins a month. The first month (Feb 1986) there were 18,000 coins submitted and the second month 35,000 coins were submitted. I guess it was an idea whose time had come.

    David
