I've heard several rumors that Mastro will have a bunch of rare packs in there next auction like 1953 Topps baseball, 1954 Topps hockey and 1958 Parkhurst hockey. Can anyone confirm if this is true and if so does anyone know exactly what packs will be available?

Paul:
The above was confirmed to me by someone who would have direct knowledge of such events. I believe all the packs are GAI-graded. There is even a 1952 Topps mid-to-high series unopened box. I believe that the lots will be grouped together in single lots by year and sport. E.G. The elusive 1953 Topps Baseball 5c pack, unknown to even the most advanced collectors up until now, will be grouped in a single lot of seventeen packs.
There are no Bowman packs in the find. My questions/interests were primarily concerned with baseball -- but I do believe I heard some other things, like a 1951 Topps Ringside Box (all in strips...)
Are they all coming from the Topps Vault?
Judging by some non-sport test issues in the last few Mastro auctions, it certainly looks like Topps has consigned a few items to the auctionhouse.
The 59 and 63 boxes are boxes that came out of canada and are 36 pack boxes. anybody know if that means that they are 3 card packs? not the standard 5 or 6 cards that were distributed in the us? thanks

<< <i>Will the '52 packs be graded? >>
The 52 packs are graded. The picture was taken before the grading. According to the Mastro site: The packs' grades include: Graded GAI NM 7: 1 pack; GAI EX-MT 6: 18 packs; GAI EX+ 5.5: 5 packs.

Any high grade OPC Jim Palmer

<< <i>gemint is that the 55 pack from shoebox or is it another one that you are talking about? >>
Yes.
Robert - Thanks for confirming. I read the updated preview just after posting. That is truely an amazing box, particularly since it includes the high numbers. I hope the winning bidder doesn't open the packs. Any guesses on the final hammer price? I wouldn't be surprised if it approaches a half a mil.
That '59 wax box is also amazing with 17 gem mint packs!
I wonder what the distribution would be out of the 120+ cards in the box.
With Low number packs selling at $5-10k a pop (with Pakfo as the only major pull), you have to wonder what such a one of a kind mid/high series pack would sell for. You figure at least $15-20, maybe pushing $25 k. $400-600 k in total.
This is going to be a frenzy.
<< <i>Is this the first '52 mid/high series box ever uncovered? I believe every other pack that is known in the hobby is from the Low Series.

Perhaps not that high with packs beging graded out as 5.5 or so -- it *may* be indicative of water damage, thus potentially reducing the sky-high value of the box. It will still go extremely high, though...
one of the descriptions said that 36 ct was stampedover the 24 ct which would only be possible if there were less cards which led me to dtart asking the questions. thanks

That whole page completely blows my mind. I would love to get some of the historical pins as well.
