I especially like the good old days when I would laminate some of my favorite cards...like my '57 Yankee Power Hitters card that by today's standards would grade NM 7. I wonder if PSA would put a qualifier on it like:
I sure hope the reserve isn't too high. I'm going to try to bid on it at the last second. Maybe I can get that sticker for my collection! Does PSA grade stickers?
There's a dealer at Fort Washington that still does the rubber band thing. I have a hard time watching him double band those stacks of cards when I walk by his table.... and you can see other collectors cringe when they see it too. His cards are all in Poor condition.... but still I wish he'd come up with some other system.... just out of respect.
In 1992 a guy comes over to the house and knew I was collecting stuff and dropped a stack of crappy looking magazines held together by some cheesey looking twine and I thought: here it comes. And in the middle of the junk was a Brooklyn 1955 World series program in really nice shape! At the time, we didn't know what it was worth and he gave me the pile for $25. You never know where your next discovery is going to come from!

<< <i>Ouch! >>
Not really. Looks like the value of the lot went from about $10.00 to just a little less than $10.00.
