  • Bogg's is a traitor. Yankee lover. I wouldn't take a free card of him if you sent me $20 with it. But it's nice of you just the same.

  • MORON. Just like Boggs himself. If you keep talking trash I'll grade my Boggs collection just to watch you drop down another spot.

The Master list isn't even complete for Boggs and most of his cards aren't worth the grading fees.

PS - If we try real hard we might hate each other as much as Dav and TG. Let's call a truce. Have a chew.

  • What team does Boggs have a World Series ring with????????????????

They all want to come to NYC for the ring. Schilling will learn the hard way.

Hubcap - Schilling has a ring - and a World Series MVP award (shared with Randy Johnson) to boot.

I can't argue with that. It's precisely why I have such a hard on when Sox heroes go to NY. It's like your wife cheating on you. You may accept it.....but you NEVER get over it. Boggs and Clemens broke my heart.

I understand there reasons but can't accept them because of my loyalty.

I can't explain why, but as a Yankees fan I have and had no problem with Boggs as a Yankee. Clemens on the other hand, I hated him. In mind he will always be a Red Sock, never was a Yankee. There some guys that, no matter how good they are, I just don't want them on my team, especially if they come from Boston, but Boggs was OK. Maybe it was because he was washed up and run out of Boston.

That is strange because for a good number of years Boggs was THE MAN in Beantown. Those batting averages were amazing for any ballpark.

As a Sox player I loved nobody more since Yastrzemski......that's why the pain lingers on image

I'm afraid I will never witness that loyalty Yaz had again.

    loyalty my foot.
Where did Yaz grow up again?
He went to Boston because of that freaky little green monster and built a career around it.
If he was a true loyalist he would have taken the offer to play in pinstripes.

Bill Lee on Carl Yastrzemski: "He's a dull, boring potato farmer from Long Island who just happened to be a great ballplayer. But he was the worst dresser in organized baseball. He made Inspector Clouseau look like a candidate for Mr. Blackwell's list of best-dressed men. He had the same London Fog raincoat during his entire career. We'd throw it in trashcans all around the league, and somehow it mysteriously made its way back."

Gee. Dave trashes a Red Sox player. Go figure? Great quote. "Great Ballplayer" are the two words that stick with me.

Besides....who was cooler than Inspector Clouseau?

Loyalty in sports is the ridiculous notion of fans. How can a player be loyal to a team that does not want him any longer? What was Boggs or Clemens supposed to do? Should they have retired when the Sox made it clear they were no longer wanted? Don't think that if free agency was around when Yaz was 27 instead of 37 that he wouldn't have jumped ship also, for a better offer he would have moved on, just like all the rest. I don't want to make this an "I hate the Red Sox" post (even though I do), so I'll mention it's most players, Reggie, Carew, Lynn, Kirk Gibson, Eddie Murray, Mike Piazza and many, many more. You go where the money is, just like most professionals.
