Thank you Spinaker - 1772 British Halfpenny

I got this delightful 1772 British Halfpenny in the mail today, a great addition to my "Mad King" type set.

Looks better than an MS60 to me. ANACS is always very tough on darkside coins, especially older ones.

I am considering a crackout and resubmit to PCGS or NGC.

That's a nice coin, Dead One. I can't tell by the small photos, but if it's a 60, then it might go 62 or better. I don't see anything that would hold it back, unless there's rubbing. But ANAS would have caught that with their 30X eagle eyes.

BTW - the scan does not catch it, but the fields are really flashy and there is an overall PL look to this one.

The coin looks quite attractive and it may make sense to send it to PCGS or NGC for a second look. MS60 seems alittle tough...especially if the fields are fairly clean and there are PL surfaces.

I'll have to consider sending it in for crossover, I don't think I want to crack it.
