ANACS to PCGS

One of my first coin purchases, at a local auction (a pawn shop) I bought a 1886 Morgan graded by ANACS MS 65/63, not slabbed. It's in a plastic baggy with a picture of the coin, the coin is the same one pictured and coin was graded in 1984. All my slabbed morgans are in PCGS slabs. Has anyone submitted such a coin to PCGS and what were the results??
From what I make of the MS 65/63 grade, the obverse was graded 65 and the reverse 63. In what grade should the coin come back, 65 or 63.
I also have a 1948 Franklin same senerio coin and picture match up this coin is graded 65/65 and was done in 1981.
I know I was lucky to end up with pictures and coins that match.

I have 2 of those old "photo certs". 65/63 is the grade for the obverse/reverse respectively unless I'm mistaken. The two I have look fairly graded but I've been told that these generally are unlikely to cross at the ANACS grade given. I think mine would likely cross if I was worried about such things.

MS63. The obv carries the grade unless the rev is lower.
It's possible that if the obv is actually 65.0 & the rev is 63.9 it could grade 64.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

  • barracuda... I don't have the naugahide holder they came in, one is in a zip lock baggy and the franklin in a currency holder.... But I did own a naugahide couch a few years back image does that count??

Though I could be wrong, I seem to recall reading that ANACS won't even slab these coins in the grade originally given by them. As I remember, what was once considered MS65 is, by today's standards, considered MS63. Likewise, MS63 is now closer to MS60.

I realize the absurdity of this statement, but none the less, that's how I remember it. Of course, the ANACS of old is not the same company as today's ANACS.

Sure it counts, as long as you can keep your legs from stickin'.
