When submitting, is it necessary to include stickers?

I've been a member of PSA for a long time, and I've submitted a lot of stuff, but with the $5 grading special, I have about 150 cards to send out. I REALLY don't want to write the invoice # and line # on every sticker to put on the back of each card - - I have haerd some people say that it is not necessary.

Is it?

I am curious to hear if anyone submits without the stickers...but someone here made a great suggestion last week about this. Use Avery labels (return address 5267) and print a whole sheet of the same number using Word. You can add the line number by hand to them, still quicker that way than writing them all out.

I've never put stickers on my submissions, and usually hand the submission to a PSA employee at either a show or at a PSA Saturday. It has never once been mentioned to me that I should do this.

If I understand their procedure, when someone grades the card, the only ID they have of the card is the invoice # and if more than one card submitted, the line # - the cards are in an individual bin - isn't this to keep them from accidentally mixing up two bins? They are not supposed to see the actual invoice or they will know who submitted them - which they are not when grading - perhaps they only say this and do know who's who - this could sway their findings - have I got this right?

  • I use the Avery 5260 address labels and print full sheets on my printer with "Invoice# 123456 (or whatever) and Line# _________" Then I just have to write in the line # real quick and slap it on the Card Saver 1.

I would think that it would help reduce turnover time, if a sticker is used.

so far turnaround time on the $5 special has been around a week or less unless you are submitting oddballs and cards that need additional authentication. always do it exactly the way the say , don't need my grader gettting in a bad mood because he has extra work to do to decipher my submission
  • I was told by a volume dealer two years ago that stickers w/ invoice numbers weren't necessary and have never used them since, But like Griffins about 60-70 percent of my submissions are dropped off directly at PSA or at a show. The balance of my cards are mailed in (Registered mail and no other way) and it’s never been a problem.

It’s my understanding that PSA immediately assigns an internal number to the card that stays with the card through the process. I don’t think they would ever let the graders know the invoice numbers we see and track our submissions with, so I would think the stickers are actually removed from the card savers or the stickers are covered.

    To save time,
I just write the number directly on the card with a bic.

Of course, that may be why all my cards come back with an MK qualifer ... image
