    << <i>HAPPY 100th BIRTHDAY MACCRIMMON!! >>

I'm actually 428 years young. I was born on the Isle of St. Kilda in 1576. Me mother was Heather MacInnes and she was in love with my handsome, wild-haired father Rory Red MacCrimmon. And if you're searching google, you can discount this Cremona, Italy tripe. The MacCrimmons of Skye are as you would expect; wild, red-haired, bonny knees, calloused hands (but nimble on tha pipes), part-Irish, part-Norse, part-Breton, part-mutt, and, we're not Italian (although some darn fine musicians came from there)! image

And thank you all! Maybe I'll pipe you in to a coin show sometime! image
Maybe I'll just pipe away all your fine coins like that Hamlin lad did back in yore. image
  • Happy Birthday, MacCrimmon imageimageimageimageimageimageimage

I'd love to hear you playing those pipes some day! image

Me too! But, I spent them all in my youth. Young Charlie presented me with with a fresh newly struck triple unite, but I cut it in half upon his execution! Symbolism and all that, you know. Kept it as a sporran piece until Culloden when I relinquished it to a mad Englishman to save my pipes. That regiment dropped their guard and I quickly struck in and blew the Jacobite's Lament upon which the Cameron's flew into a blind rage and struck dead 100 English in one last effort before they retreated from the field. And then that selfsame Englishman reneged on our "deal", struck me and made off with my pipes.......well, I'll tell you I had a laugh as he stood there trying to give' em a blaw image A suffer-in' cat they sounded like as olde Cumberland rode over the rise and ordered several volleys of grapeshot to be heaped on the piper.......splintered my old pipes and the Englishmen, he did. image So, through the bogs I dashed with my wee kilt flashing my bum at olde Cumberland!!! image

Ah! Well thank you Jammin ArchDuke. image I try, but I didn't take up with the King's Language until he GW accepted Britain's surrender at Yorktown.....until then I only spoke a smattering of ancient Norse and Scots gaelic; Labhraítear dhá theanga i measc seanbhunadh na tíre in Éirinn inniú, an Ghaeilge agus an Béarla. Is í an Ghaeilge an "chéad teanga oifigiúil" i bPoblacht na hÉireann de réir an Bhunreachta. Múintear í sna scoileanna go léir, idir bhunscoileanna agus iarbhunscoileanna. Is ábhar léinn í sna hollscoileanna in Éirinn agus in ollscoileanna áirithe ar fud an domhain. Is ábhar roghnach í i gcuraclam scoileanna na Breataine. Maíonn duine as triúr i bPoblacht na hÉireann go bhfuil a bheag nó a mhór de Ghaeilge acu agus léiríonn beirt as triúr báidh leis an teanga. Tá dhá shruth le sonrú i saol na Gaeilge: meath agus athbheochan. image
