Something is wrong here...

Found this new seller on Ebay - just registered and look at what he's selling:

Ebay seller: scffer

I'd stay away - but it looks like others are not so afraid image

  • Seller's location is Khabarovsk United States image
  • $10 to ship a coin...nice!
  • The home town of the seller does sound quite... foreign, but then there are lots of strange place names in the US. Personally, I live in Denmark - but not so long ago an Ebay seller thought he was supposed to ship the coin I won to the town of Denmark in the US!

  • Personally, and call me a wimp if you want to, I would not touch one of these.

I accept that someone has to have a "start" on e-bay but even I, as dumb as I am , would not start with these auctions even if they were real.

That was just my opinion, of course.

  • You just do not bid on these coins - you can't - it's against the idea of basic human intelligence.

I would seriously suggest that anyone who bids here DESERVES to be ripped off. And I mean that.

Or do I? There's a lot of newcomers to the internet/Ebay, old people etc....

Does anyone think there should be some sort of control on new sellers?

  • The coins pictured are of high grade and quite sharp although they are small. They could easily be stolen from some on-line auction catalog.

  • Searched yahoo: Khabarovsk

    Khabarovsk
Spring scenes in Khabarovsk, the second largest city in the Russian Far East
and the last major stop on the Siberian railroad before Vladivostok. ...

Also searched mapquest for a city named Khabarovsk in the US. None found.

  • I was going to say about stolen photos. Remember the Goldberg sale last year? There was the obverse and reverse of two different coins from that sale on Ebay. Virtually a day or two after the auction!!

I filed a complaint about that one to ebay and they did nothing.
