Canadian Silver Maple Leafs

Can anyone tell me what these are worth and how would I sell them. I bought 50 when silver was at $4.40 in 1999.

Thank you,

  • Complete 18 coin sets retail in Coin World for $200 but the Maples seem to have less of a following
    than the Silver Eagles.

Key dates with very low mintages are 1996 & 1997, which are tiny mintages compared to the Silver Eagles.

Right now 1999's should garner $8.50-$9.00 each.

  • When I was up in Toronto a few months ago, I bought one for $13.00 Canadian ( about $9.25 US ). A bit pricier then I would of liked but, I was on vacation and wanted a souvinier. It was a 2003 Maple Leaf that I bought and not the 1999.
  • Dealer buy around Vancouver is CAD$9.75 (US$7.25) or so.
  • You can buy them for around $8.30 right now, so you'd probably garner a little less than $8 from a dealer. Unfortunately, the 1999s do not have any sort of numismatic premium. Link -- these guys always have Canadian silver for a number of years in stock, and usually at the same price they sell SAEs. (If you buy in bulk, you can do better with other dealers.)

But forget that junky silver. Go for the Canadian gold -- there is none finer.
