Heritage Consignements

Anyone ever consigned material to Heritage? I am considering doing so but wonder if it is worth it in the end. It's not $1,000 stuff but some of it is nice and would fetch a decent price (at least for us less moneyed folk)...image

ANy input is appreciated as always...

If your coins are not exceptional you will probably do better on eBay.

Heritage is not exactly well known for treating its consignors well.

If your coins are non-US, you'd do better with a firm known for specializing in World Coins, rather than the Wal-Mart of the coin world.

Terry's not joking, really. Coins are traded here for reasonable (to both buyer and seller) prices. With the ebay fees you're looking at, you may be better off trying this site.

  • Heritage also has minimums for consignments. It depends on the particular auction - but often times single items valued at less than $1,000.00 are not accepted. Other times the aggregate value must exceed $1,000.00 and sometimes $5,000.00.

And yes I have consigned with Heritage before. Never really had any problems - but it does take a while to get your money.
    knowledge ........ share it
  • As usual you have been very helpful. I'll have to think about it. I know Heritage does a huge US Coin business but they do appear to have some volume in darkside and ancient material so that's why I queried you fine folk.

I'm interested in moving along some sovereigns and 1/2 sovereigns so yes, maybe I'll just list them here! Thanks for the advice all.
