Anyone ever see a 'brick' of Washington Quarters?

Years ago, I bought a number of what were termed 'bricks'. These are rolls of stuff like 46-S quarters that are packaged together (I guess maybe 5 rolls) and stamped on the outside with the date, etc. They appear to be boxed although the packaging is not very thick.

Just wondering.

    I'll add a possible explanation.

I work in banking, not directly with money but close enough to have heard the term "brick" used on a regular basis.

A "brick" is used in reference to how the Fed likes to organize money. The Fed will only ship or receive money to banks in particular whole dollar amounts. The shipment is sorted by currency denomination.... a brick of 100's, a brick of 20's etc. A bank can't order just a roll of quarters, they have to order it by the brick.

Banks usually leave bricks intact to making counting easier.

I believe a brick is a consistent five items to allow for stacking. The Fed and the vaults always have money in very neat and orderly stacks (bricks).

    Hope the information helps.
