Elizabeth I Shilling

I won this a little while ago. It's an Elizabeth I milled shilling, these are some of the first milled coins. Elizabeth
I also picked up this Charles II shilling the other day from Colin Cooke. Charles

Python, I must (again) declare that you have some truly superior pieces. I really love the Elizabeth shilling, and heretofore have never been impressed with anything by her, but this is the first time I've seen a milled coin of hers. How exceptional it is!!! Why do they call it unique? The Charles shilling is also quite stunning! Keep up the good work.

  • Jester, I think he uses unique as a bit of hype on some of his auctions, he also used it on the 1826
    shilling I bought from him.

    Thanks for the comments everyone.image

Both coins are quite nice. The Elizabeth I shilling is an excellent example. These can be weakly struck and grading them can be a real challenge. The same can be said of the Charles II shilling... decent hair detail in the center of the coin is a tough find. Congrats in connection with such wonderful additions.

  • Thanks Coinkat, I've always liked the Elizabeth milled coins so I was pretty happy to find it.
