1889/8 Victoria Halfpenny
Bought the title coin today described on the mailing list as "UNC 70% Lustre Prooflike". I saw the coin at a fair recently and the obverse is a bit dusky but the reverse is - well - prooflike. The overdate is - as standard - very vague. The rule on these seems to be the higher the grade, the more obscure the overdate.
Anyway it was well south of £200 and it's a disturbingly rare bear in unc lustre so...
Post a pic when the coin arrives (for a laugh )
EDIT: Arrived today - believe it or not there are mirror fields under that "sand". I think it is a proof. Have to get her checked.

PS, if you live in G.B. and collect British coins, that's not really being a Darksider.
Or is it?
We ARE watching you.

Oh I collect from any country - as long as the coin is way above average grade for the type and I consider it worthwhile.

We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.
<< <i>I like British Commonwealth coppers. Usually I collect one penny or one cent denominations. >>
I've a nice 1888 cent from British Honduras (modern Belize) coming in the same package.. AU or UNC with decent lustre.... (have to see it in the hand for a proper grade)
Seems to be a popular country for collectors now...
