Here is your voice daddy-o..... we can still hear it..... bigindie quotes:
<< <i>How cool is Airplanenut? He just pulled off another very successful charity auction, raising a grand total of $2,751! Kudos also go out to all the collectors who donated goods for the auction. It's nice to see people do something totally selfless. >>
<< <i>Some good news is, I rarely spend more than $50 on a coin, so there are a lot of choices out there for you. There are some good people on these boards who are happy to help you gain both knowledge and coins. Also check out the buy, sell, trade forum, transactions with the people who post here rarely go badly.
>>
<< <i>Here it is, folks... my first toned Frankie. The colors didn't come out very well in the pic, but the obverse is full of blues and purples and the reverse has a nice gunmetal tone. It's in a blue PCGS slab. Anybody want to guess the grade.
P.S. Thanks to Frank the Pug for posting these pics for me.
>>
<< <i>That's a nice Kennedy Half you just won. You sniped my snipe right out from under me! I hope you like it. It couldn't have gone to a nicer dog. >>
<< <i>Nice grades, Lucy. BTW, a little Beano will take care of the problem you apparently have in that first picture. >>
<< <i>I'd like to thank all of you who have made this accomplishment possible. I know I've worked hard to get here. I've spent lots of grueling hours scrolling, and clicking and posting smiley faces. I just want you all to know I couldn't have done any of this without you.
To commemorate this wonderful event, I've decided to have a giveaway. Take a look at this beautiful, high-grade specimen that can be yours. Just post your name and Sunday evening I'll put you all in my lucky tube sock and draw a winner.
>>
<< <i>Lucy,
I was very encouraged by your giveaway post. I was feeling very down today (and a bit weak in my faith) when I read your post. It's nice to see someone else on the forum who knows "what's up" (or "Who's up"), so to speak. I always look forward to reading what you have to say. I recently struck up a friendship with Morris Minsberg from MnM Collectibles and I noticed you travel in the same email circles (he's forwarded things to you that I sent him). It's nice to see we have a small community of believers on the CU Forum. Write me back when you have the chance. (Don't worry -- I'm not some crazy stalker).
God Bless,

RIP
When I heard the terrible news, my first instinct was to quit posting today. But, I have had a change of heart and will be as upbeat as possible, out of respect for Mike and his infectious enthusiasm and cheerfulness.

1 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, "Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this."
2Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. 3And He who sat there was[1] like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. 4Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns[2] of gold on their heads. 5And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices.[3] Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the[4] seven Spirits of God.
6Before the throne there was[5] a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. 7The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. 8The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:
"Holy, holy, holy,[6]
Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!"
9Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
11"You are worthy, O Lord,[7]
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist[8] and were created."
Mike, your singing this song in harmony with the greatest vocal group ever....

Mike's passing is tragic and I just cannot get the thought out of my mind how tragic it is for his wife and young child. Hopefully all will turn out fine for the family.
Bad hands are certainly dealt to good people, and this was one of those hands....

God bless you ... and God keep you close, Mike!!

Come on over ... to The Dark Side!
He was definitely one of the good guys.

One thing we can do, I suspect Mike's wife will eventually want to sell his collection (possibly). I hope Chiefbob can advise her if this is the case. I hate it when loved ones get ripped off when selling collections they inherited.
It is way too early for this, but young mothers need all the support they can get (especially financial) and I just hope if she needs or wants to do this that we can make sure that fair value is given.

Goin' Home
Goin' home, goin' home, I'm a goin' home;
Quiet-like, some still day, I'm jes' goin' home.
It's not far, jes' close by,
Through an open door;
Work all done, care laid by,
Goin' to fear no more.
Mother's there 'spectin' me,
Father's waitin' too;
Lots o' folk gather'd there,
All the friends I knew,
All the friends I knew.
Home, I'm goin' home!
Nothin lost, all's gain,
No more fret nor pain,
No more stumblin' on the way,
No more longin' for the day,
Going to roam no more!
Mornin' star lights the way,
Res'less dream all done;
Shadows gone, break o' day,
Real life jes' begun.
There's no break, there's no end,
Jes' a livin' on;
Wide awake, with a smile
Goin' on and on.
Goin' home, goin' home, I'm jes' goin' home,
It's not far, jes' close by
Through an open door.
I'm a goin' home,
I'm jes' goin'
Goin' home, goin' home, goin' home, goin' home, goin' home, goin' home!
what excuse do I have for not doing my best ?
Thanks for the example, Mike. Rest in Peace.
I guarantee if Heather decides to sell Mike's collection, she will not get ripped off. In fact, I will recommend that she hold it for their son. Whether it increases in value or not, that's not so important as who it belonged to. Their son James will be able to hold the coins his dad held and cherished. I will also encourage Heather to have her nephew mentor James (who Mike got started in this great hobby) and grow his collection when he's old enough. That would truly be a generational passing of the coin torch. I hope I'm around to get involved, too!
Lucy, thanks so much for your beautiful comments and thoughts. I have a very hard time reading all the messages on this post and the other one without sobbing like a baby. (I'm a Vietnam vet and not known for being a touchy-feely, sensitive guy.)

.Wow, Oswego... you've been to our neck of the woods. We're from Camden! You get up in the area often? Next time you do, look me up and we'll enjoy a local micro or two and talk coins. Chiefbob is another local boy. Maybe we can get him involved too. BTW, no I've never had the pleasure drinking any Sackett's Harbor brews. Until last year I was strictly a Macro man - this microbrew thing is sort of new to me. And now I haven't seen the NiMo video. How did you manage to star in that? Oh, and one other thing... check out my Franklin post in a few minutes. I'll be posting a couple of new pics. ....Someday buddy we'll share a homebrew at the big bar in the sky.....Ken!

My first YOU SUCK on May 6 2005
He will be missed.
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I, and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me.

In fact, this Sunday January 16, 2005, my wife (gavelhead) and I will assist in the presentation in upstate New York being made by chiefbob to Heather, bigindie's wife, on behalf of our PCGS Collectors Club.
We will all have a few words paying tribute to bigindie. We will also present some gorgeous 1974 and 2004 coins slabbed by PCGS with a special inscription just for bigindie's family.
All of your contributions were invaluable to make this tribute possible!!
Pictures will be taken of the holders, coins, presentation cases, boxes, and the whole day in general.
Lets revive and remember all of bigindie's posts on this special day by bringing them up to date on Sunday!

I'll be uploading the pictures taken today during the presentation of the coin mementos by Oreville and myself. Oreville (Robert) drove 8 hours today to do this, and for that I am sincerely grateful. More tomorrow.

Rest in peace, buddy. You didn't know me here on the forums, but we have a lot in common. More than you ever knew. But not to worry, I'll see you when I get there. And one day, when we finally meet, I'm sure we'll be the best of friends.
