For Colonial guys: What's an "Engrailed Edge"

I have a washington token, small military bust, engrailed edge. I have also seen it on a couple of other coins/tokens out there. It's in a slab so I can't see the edge. Any info out there?

Looked it up in the dictionary and maybe it's a bunch of dots probably concave (definition implied could be raised or indented)

1st of all, crack it out. your missing out big-time on the beauty of a coin like that.

engrailed edge is just a generally fancy engraving of the edge. imagine reeded edge, only MUCH larger "reeds", sometimes turned at an angle.

trust me, crack your coin out, you will appreciate it 100% more.
