So the inevitable question comes, as a coin collector do you use mac or pc? and also what software is out there for both to track your coin collection?

For coin software, I'm not aware of any that are cross platform. Excel spreadsheets would be the closest.

Uh, yeah, okay.

I can think of a dozen reasons not to have high capacity magazines, but it's the reasons I haven't thought about that I need them.

The Mac OS blows the PC Windoze away but what can you do? You need software to use and that is the bottom line.
As to coin software: I use MS Access and am in the process of designing a neat little user interface around me database. Access is available on the Mac too I would think...

<< <i>Did you ever notice Mac users are a little touchy ? >>
You'd be touchy too if you were using a machine produced by a company that frequently has one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

A little moive about the mac,,,,,beware 56k users.
It happened to me to
I've had experience making graphics on both Macs and PCs and I like using the Mac better because their displays are amazing and I find the structure of their hotkey arrangement more accessible and easier to use which makes my productivity faster. Apple's ColorSynch is superior as well and what I make on-screen is precicely what I print out, this hasn't been the case in my experience with PC's. Macs also come with a bunch of useful software like iTunes and iPhoto which I use daily.
People have been saying Apple's on the verge of going out of business for 20 years. It hasn't happened and now it looks like Apple is doing better than ever; the amazing success of the iPod has brought about large profits for Apple in today's volatile tech market, Apple has also teamed up with HP to bring out an HP branded iPod... it seems Apple isn't going to make the same mistake twice.
And finally; I hate one-button mice too, but I can use a two button one with OS X just fine.

AND in addition I'd like to ad that a computer is ultimately a tool, what you do with that tool is what's really important and I think my work speaks for itself.

Good thing Gates has stepped in a couple times with his checkbook to keep that from happening.

Now that they have a real OS (Unix) I'm thinking about an Imac.
Then my Ipod would be back in its native environment.

I have a preference for the Mac and it's OS. Have always been more comfortable with the system and it's lack of needs to keep running. As an OS, I feel that Windows is a seriously flawed piece of software, that needs far more care and user attention then any OS should. I have a computer Science degree from a major university, and damned if I can always find out whats buggered the machine at work when it goes down (which is about once a month like clockwork). I've never been unable to get my Mac's back up in less then half an hour, and my crashes in the last two years can be counted on one hand with several fingers to spare. The laptop has yet to ever crash.
So yah, I'm a Mac supporter. Not a rabid one, as I feel that in the end it's just a tool. I like this one, and it does the job. Others like PC's and they do the job for them. No skin off my nose what others use or like. Certainly not worth arguing about.
And why are Mac users so touchy?
Imagine that you like... oh say... modern US coinage, you know, those clad coins. And everyone is constantly telling you it's crap, and junk, and valuless, and why oh why do you like it when there are so many 'superior' 'real' American coins out there? (Note, the previous does not reflect my opinion about such coins) It would get tired after a decade or so to hear such everytime you turn about when the subject comes up. One would naturally get defensive and a touch cranky on the topic.
Myriads
You can build a pc to do just about anything, in any configuration you like. And you can buy software to do just about anything as well. My home office has three networked pcs, six monitors, four printers, a scanner, card readers, television cards, dvd and cd drives and burners and everything works flawlessly. I shut the power off a couple of times a week just to give everything a rest. If anything goes wrong it will be up and running in no time with readily available componentry.
My year and a half old Powerbook is only 667mhz but it handles things like 300 meg images (11"x17" @ 300dpi) with around 50 layers with layer masks, vector masks , layer styles etc quite well. It crunches the math on 20+ meg illustrator vector files quite well too. All on a beautiful display with no crashing at all. So if that makes it blow, then fine.
if there is any money left after paying the premium you pay for a mac as compared to a pc.
I just prefer something else now that certainly doesn't suck (although OS 9 and below certainly did).

I use Frontpage for my collection. It's under construction and I probably won't ever put it online, but I like it.
I have a list of denominations, click one that brings you to each "era" pick one, that brings you to that coin "Liberty Nickel" or whatever with a list off all the years and a little brief history of the coin. Pick the year and I have what I'd grade it at, what I paid for it, mintage, and the big 900x900pixel pictures. It's a bit of work, but I think it looks neat. I have my Morgans finished, but ofcourse I only have 7 of them for now. Seeing that I just started collecting them less than a month ago.
I thought that guy in the movie was talking about my puter. That's what mine does.
You know when you ctrl-alt-del and the death screen comes on and says press any key to continue or ctrl-alt-del to restart your computer?
That's a big fat lie.

No. The reason why PCs sell better than the Mac is due to price pure and simple. And cheaper doesn't mean better.
Dog, there are two kinds of computers: Macs and everyone else. And everyone else is PC.
