The rims look about 4 feet tall.image What's up with the chunk missing at the eagle tail? Is it a cast copy?

Not a bad looking coin. Do you know what that is on the rev? Looks like a strike thru.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • I just bought it..... I think it's an end roll error.... or whatever you call it when you run out of metal to strike.... If you look at the corner with the chunk missing, that side has no rim and is smooth... the other rim side looks 4 feet tall, I agree......

Its either a struck-through or planchet error.

Super clean looking obverse to boot.

    Deep dish strike?
Damn I,m hungry for pizza now.

OK, so the chunk of debris rested on the reverse rim, and when the coin was struck, the dies tilted slightly and created huge rims on the opposite side of the coin, and a terrific strike. (maybe)image

Sorry, it looks like someone took a shot at the eagle and missed. It may be a mint made error but I don't like big dents like that.

stman. You have access to some rare coins. Peace dollars rarely come toned with color. Plus that 1806 half is something. I have an 1806 but it is a boring dull grey.

I agree with those who said the reverse feature looks like a strikethrough, and also with the "four foot tall" rims comment. That's baby's got one helluva strike!

  • I received that coin today... very nice for the $... the rims aren't THAT tall... just a shadow I guess..... and it does look like a planchet eror... The stike is almost like a 21.... very nice and detailed although I'd give it only a 63/4.....
