You're building up quite a pattern collection! You should link to a personal website showing all your gorgeous stuff.image

Gorgeous pieces Mark! Any interest in the British patterns NEN has on their website?

They're really great. Is the 1799 gold? A cameo proof? It looks like it.

No it's gilted, covered with a very thin layer of "gold". A good few of the patterns from this era were gilted.

Superb collecting field with some superb engravers and designers at work. There are some stunning pieces. NEN had the Britannia/Naked Britannia pattern halfpenny last summer. I was so concerned with battering the price down that they sold it to someone else during the abuse. $2,000. Should have just paid up and shut up... image

Oooh, I do like the gilt.

We still need to talk about your Irish gilt penny some time. Did you see the French patterns at Dan's table? Right after I spoke to you, I bought this one there. And another one the next day. He still has a third.

    Nice coins!

I have always loved those gilted proofs, and those farthings are so nice too. I have been looking for a good 1/2d, 1d or 2d... I doubt I could find one that nice. The color on that first farthing gives me goosebumps.

  • Mark, wonderful coins. One of the few regrets I have from FUN is not getting to meet you in person.
