  • That's great!

I've never seen these in person. I've heard they are very small...

    What size are they?
  • Very nice.

    Nice coin. Beautiful toning.

    What size are they?

    They are 16 mm.

  • Are all the denominations 16mm?
  • I think that a US Dime is 19mm(?)

Thought you just meant the 3ds.

    4d: 18 mm
    3d: 16 mm
    2d: 13 mm
    1d: 11 mm

NE has some very pretty toned 3ds. I'm admiring a few on their site, but haven't pulled the trigger.

There are several sizes to 3ds dependent on the year of minting. Those prior to 1816 size up at 17mm, those hateful ugly 1937-forward slugs are 21mm I believe.

Interestingly enough the South African silver 3ds are 16mm as well. I havent a clue what the Australian sizes out at.

    What is "NE"?

NE = Northeast Numismatics, one of the favorite dealers of many here. Also known as "NEN."

They are an incredibly poor reverse IMHO Wybrit, they put a weed on the reverse. They are even uglier when they get circulated...

NE was just my abbreviation for NorthEast Numismatics. www.northeastcoin.com Some outstanding inventory there. Personally I think the toned 3ds to be a bit overpriced on the later 1880+ but the stuff I have bought from them has always been top notch. Its a great website to sit and stare at the scans on. Gives you a great appreciation for the maundy boxes the maundy sets were held in. Great toning machines.

The 1937-67 3 pence "slugs", as Avarice so eloquently puts it, are made of brass and are 12-sided (so I guess the figure of 21mm diameter depends on how you measure themimage). Anyway, I find these brass slugs to be quite stunning and even attractive in uncirculated, and especially, brilliant uncirculated condition. Check out rhound1977's icon.

Northeast Numismatics is tops in my book. Chris Clements, a forum member under Nencoin, is a great guy to work with.

    16 mm as well

Australia retained Sterling Silver up until 1946 , the British went to 50% sometime around 1921

Cruzi, is there any possibility of you putting your excellent website in your signature line?
