Question about 82 Topps Ripken Blank Back Counterfeit

I see that Beckett has denoted to beware of blank back 1982 Topps Ripken RC counterfeits. I have a customer who just brought in a Ripken 82 Topps that isn't a total blank back, as it has the green and blue ink on the back of the card, but it is lacking the black ink that has all the player information and the number. Is this the type of counterfeit that Beckett was warning of, or were they referring to the true sense of a blank back? Any help is appreciated, Jason

Yes, this is the card that Beckett referred to. They were printed in 8 card uncut sheets. If you compare the color green on the back of the phony card with a legit '82 card, you'll notice the difference. Also take a close look at the black borders around the 3 players on the front (poor printing quality)

  • One of the first things I noticed was the poor printing quality around the player photos, thanks a ton for the help, Jason
