The reason I started to collect English coins and will continue

My mom had always had a great interest in English history. She always wanted to go to England. So I decided to bring English history to her. We would look at each new piece. She liked to take one coin and try to figure out the line to the Throne before and after a particular ruler. Well, on Jan. 9 of this year, she passed. That is why I have not posted much lately. Even though I am a grown man, I am still in kind of a fog and lost.
I find some joy in these coins because when I would bring them over and show them to her, she seemed really interested. Unlike any of my other family or friends. So all English coins will really hold a special place in my future collecting. I don`t care what people say, even when you are grown, a mom is still a mom.

I think that the Forum is the best place to go deeply into English coins, and I'll be very glad to read your threads and to hear from you.
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
I also share my hobby with my mother. My primary darkside interest is Polish coins, and my mother speaks both fluent Polish and English. She's translated some texts for me, and I frequently mail some of my pieces to her for her enjoyment. Alas, she lives in Seattle, and I live in Boston, so we only get to see each other in person about twice a year.
We ARE watching you.
I am deeply sorry for your loss. I am trying to think of something to say that might be of consolation, but there is a time to grieve and not much can change that.
You know you have the support and best wishes of the people here.
Regards,
Carl

How true, sorry for your loss.
I'm truly sorry for your loss.
I know what you are going through, I lost my Dad nearly two years ago.
I think of him every day.
laurentyvan, in my opinion, said it best! (not to lessen anyone else's input......).
As a young child, I spent many a day at my grandparents' house in Philly poring over their and my coins. Back then, it was just US pennies thru quarters, but it was my start. Although they didn't really collect coins other than to have a few silver dollars in their top drawer, my grandparents were with me as I worked them, and even walked many city blocks with me from their home to the smelters on Arch Street, where I would spend lots of time going thru cans of silver destined otherwise for the smelter, looking for dates I didn't have to buy with the small allowance I had at the time....
I miss them very much, even though it's been decades since their passing. But I include my kids in the hobby now, and hope their kids will enjoy spending time with me when I'm their grandpop!
Sorry for your recent loss. I hope all your fond memories serve to lessen the heartache.
