    Philippino coins are great, aren't they?

    Where else can you get a gem BU 1904-S silver crown for under $300?

    These Philipinne coins are very beautiful. Stack's has recently auctioned a very nice collection of these coins (earlier issues too) with some pretty wild toning : lots 958-1049 stack's Jan 13 auction - check out the colour plates of lot 958 (peso) and 982 (proof set) .

    Thanks guys - actually these were in a "pile" of foreign coins sold as a group at the coin auction I attend on Tuesday evenings so as for the 1945D's well - I got lucky to get two uncirculated ones! image The half centavo is a gorgeous, very original red coin. The centavo is very nice too - but as can be seen, it has been mishandled on the reverse. The 1917S ten centavos is also an eye catcher. Extremely well struck and almost prooflike fields.

    The green on the silver coins is more reflection than anything else - not sure why the pics came out that way - the coins are mostly white.

    I think the US-Phillipines coins are underappreciated by US collectors-- especially considering their very
    U.S designs.
