I have a coin with almost this exact design except it says "ONE RUPEE" instead of a half. It is also from the year 1948. I have been looking everywhere trying to determine the composition of this coin and if it contains any silver. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

0% silver, the rest is Nickel. Pure Nickel is magnetic, so if you have a magnet, try it.

The majority of high denomination base metal coins are quite scarce in unc.

This one is the exception. These are quite common in both unc and PR and uncs are often
very gemmy. Truth to tell this is the first one I've seen with wear. Later issue Pakistani cu/ ni
issues are very tough in unc.

This one caught me by surprise....He really was a great guy. I still have a little plaque he sent me 'coin collecting spoken here'. Sigh.
