Poor sales technique

When I first started selling on ebay I would really hype up the card.
After a lot of negative email and response, I learned that an educated, experienced buyer typically knows how scarce or valuable a card is... and doesn't need a novice explaining it to them. I learned that I even lost bids/sales because my vaccum cleaner salesman pitch was patronizing.

I found a nice card... one that I would like to own here... a seeming excellent seller...
but the description put me off.
see what I mean?

seller says that psa 8's are almost impossible to find from this set and that "PSA 9 cards consistently sell for over $100.00 on ebay with some selling for much more."
link to past psa 9 auctions here... only 2 of the past 119 have sold over $100...

Link to psa 8 ended auctions:
176 past / 100+ current..
psa 8's

Point is...
this particular psa 9 just might sell for $351 or more since it is a particularly tough one...
so why oversell? The person who is going to fork out the cash will likely be someone who knows what they are doing... and the sales pitch is patronizing.

I feel the same way as you. The sales pitch must really be toned down since it will drive a lot of serious customers away. A description is fine, but the puffery is such a turn off. If I ever do sell on ebay, I will just list straight forward facts.
