WELL.... IT LOOKS LIKE THE SMOKE HAS CLEARED, AND ALL THE MIRRORS SHATTERED!!.............. NOW IT'S "WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR" AGAIN!! BUMMER!! (I HATE the fact that I can't add emoticons mid-post!!)
Although ALL you Carolina fans greatly exaggerated their final score (nothing under 21 points for the Panthers or 37 total points), a Win is a Win is a Win!
Congrats to Carolina, and Good Luck in the Big Game!! It looks like it'll be a contest between 2 very physical teams, although I'd still have to favor New England.
Anyway, as per the guidelines of the contest, the entrant with the closest score for Carolina wa ajaan, with 21 points (vs 14 actual), and a total of 38 combind. Again, I didn't have to employ any fancy gyrations for a tie-breaker! (THANK YOU!!).
Tonight's contest prize are a pair of Greek Euro coins: a 2002 10cent KM#184, and 50cent KM#186.
Congrats, and thanks to all for playing (with the exception of Todd Pinkston!)...............
As promised, here's thie week's follow-up to my Eagles-Packers giveaway from last week! Hopefully, it will be contest #2 of 3!! GO EAGLES!!!
Sunday night, Jan 18th, my beloved Eagles (the big BIRDS) will take on the Carolina Panthers (the big CATS) for the NFC championship!
For those of you with their noses stuck only in the coin realm, this is the Iggles' THIRD STRAIGHT VISIT to the Championship game, and, hopefully, the third time is a charm!!
So, the rules are exactly the same as they were last week, although I hope to see a few more Eagles supporters this time!
As before, I will have to think about a nice prize for the winner, which will be updated immediately below before the end of the game.
The winner will be the one who guesses closest to the final score for the CORRECT WINNING TEAM. I will resort to a "total points" tie-breaker , if need be, which will take into account the losing team's score. Over or Under the winning team's final score is ok - - just the closest to. (Hope I'm not confusing anyone).
Also, as promised, the 2 non-winners from last week's giveaway who voted in favor of the Eagles get an extra vote in this week's contest! (Remember that incentive for the Super Bowl contest, folks!!) So, spoon & civitas , make sure to place 2 entries!
So I need:
(1) Winning Team (Panthers or Eagles)
(2) Final Score (although I'll just look at winning team score to determine, unless tie-breaker's needed)
(3) Total points (which I will be able to compute based on your response to #2)
So, the gauntlet has been laid down!
WHO will step up to the challenge??
- - Dave
P.S. : Entry cut-off will be Sunday at 5:30pm, Eastern time zone (hopefully, I will be able to post a "that's it" entry into this thread after which no late-guessers will be accepted).
P.P.S: Any CAROLINA fans interested in the name of a good contest in sweetening the pot for the winner??

Alright....... WHAT'S going on here?! WHY does almost everyone either dislike or discount the Birds?? This is starting to turn into a lopsided contest again!!
<< <i>WHY does almost everyone either dislike or discount the Birds? >>
Nobody says Philly doesn't have a good team - the Panthers are just better!
Carolina 24-17.

Eagles 34, Carolina 7.
edited to add: this game is really pointless. The AFC will win the Super Bowl. Go ahead, make my day, flame away.

I would NEVER flame you!! No matter HOW wrong you may be!
Time will tell!
To be quite honest, I think the Birds deserve a LOT of credit for how they've done this season against all injuries, etc, but I do think a lot of it has been done with "smoke and mirrors"!
Here's to the smoke hanging around for 2 more games!!!
