Football trivia contest. Win a free vintage pack !

SUPERPUNK813's contest was fun, but a little too easy.

I'll send a full unopened 1974 football pack to the first that can answer the following 5 questions correctly :

1. How many times did Ed Podolak fumble during the 1971 season ?
2. As of the end of the 1961 AFL season, who held the record for most field goals made in one AFL game ?
3. Who was the 1st president to attend an NFL game while in office ?
4. Who was the pro football player nicknamed "The Catawba Claw" ?
5. Which NFL star stated the following ? :
"I didn't mind losing the second wife as much as losing the '56 Mercury to her. I loved that car. It was the first decent car I ever owned"

hee hee hee, I think my pack will not be going anywhere ... image

    kr580 - great guesses, but not 5 for 5, hence no cha-ching.

WOLFBEAR - IF KR580, got 4 of 5, he's entitles to 80% of the pack, so take a sharp scissors and chop off the top 20% and there you go! image ...jay

Since perhaps 4 of the 5 are correct! I would asume that a pres before Nixon or LBJ saw an NFL game, so I'll choose my fav pres and former Gettysburg resident IKE...jay

    1. Five
    2. Gene Mingo
    3. Eisenhower
    4. Bucky Pope
    5. Joe Namath

Ed Podolak fumble question? is this total fumbles or how many he lost?
  • Jay,

Hate to burst your bubble, but I'm almost 1000% it is Nixon...

Hit CTRL + F and type National Football League

IAN - Based on your link it looks like Tricky Dicky was the 1st pres to view an NFL game while in office (1969).
My pick of IKE was a shot in the dark anyway, but I find that remarkable that no pres prior to '69 attended an NFL game especially w/ the Redskins being so close...jay
  • lol,

Tricky Dicky... Haven't heard him called that in a while since one of my pals referred to him during a Watergate lecture last year and the class erupted in laughter.

I actually thought the same thing, though, about the Redskins being so close and the fact that Johnson played some sort of football. You would think that Ike was the type of guy who would love football, right? I'm almost 100% sure Ike had been in attendance at some NFL game(s), but I think I got lucky with Google and on a technicallity (the in office part).

lol, Let's just hope I'm lucky with all of the other answers image

  • My guess:

    1. Five
    2. Blanda
    3. Nixon
    4. Mingo
    5. Bobby Layne

Jay: you're from southern PA? I'm originally from Carlisle. My whole family still lives in the Harrisburg area.
  • Don't know a whole heck of a lot about football but............

    1. Five
    2. George Blanda
    3. Lyndon Johnson
    4. Bucky Pope
    5. Bobby Layne

Four of the questions have been answered correctly at least once.

Ian - there's nothing about a 'regular season game' in my question. image

  • One last try and I will call it a day

    1.) 5 fumbles
    2.) George Blanda
    3.) Dwight D Eisenhower
    4.) Bucky Pope
    5.) Joe Namath
  • Another guess...

    1. Five
    2. Gene Mingo
    3. Harry S Truman
    4. Bucky Pope
    5. Joe Namath

I did some deductive thinking, and the only time the 'Skins made it to the championship before Nixon was '45, so I'm thinking it's Truman...

    lol

This is definately a riot Wolf, it is appreciated that you are holding it,
