Digital camera question

ajaanajaan Posts: 17,409 ✭✭✭✭✭
I finally loaded the software onto the computer. I took a couple of coin photos and loaded them onto my hard drive. I can't upload them because they are too big. Any suggestions?

Do you have webspace available? I post my large pictures to my webspace and then link them here.

Do you have any editing software like Photoshop?

    NO to #1

I'm not sure for #2, I have to see what came with the Camera's software.

I listed this on eBay. I took the photo with the camera. I don't expect it to sell, coin look familiar Rob?, just wanted to see what it would look like on eBay.

If they didn't give photo editing software (look on the CD, sometimes there's Photoshop SE) then you'll need to either find some online or pick some up. Make sure that whatever program you get has the ability to change the image size or the DPI. Most will so it shouldn't be a problem. I use an old copy of Photoshop 6.0.1 myself.

Go to www.irfanview.com and download their freeware. You'll be able to resize your images so they'll fit within the size guidelines.

I use MGI Photosuite to tweak the filesize and reduce the jpeg quality. Just had to do that with Joe's pic of my Frenchie pattern. Any imaging software should enable you to do it. I did it by saving the full-sized pic to my computer, opening it, and then clicking "Save As". Down near the bottom of the box that appeared was a slide bar that I could use to adjust the jpeg quality.

Another question. The ISB port on my computer is not easy to get at. Is it OK for me to leave the cable plugged into the back of the computer and just unplug it from the camera? Thanks.

You may also want to look into buying a USB hub. Allows you to plug several USB driven devices into the same USB port on your PC and allows you to bring that USB connection up a convenient place on your desk where it belongs.

ajaan, yeah, just download the Irfan View 3.85 and that should do the trick. After you learn the stuff then you can download the additional plug-ins, etc.. PM me if you have any questions.

I use this software as part of every image edit...sizing the images to what you guys normally see hear from me has the images at 50K I believe.

Have you checked the software that came with your camera? The camedia software I got with my camera has an excellent image editing function included that anybody, and I mean anybody could use.image
