he has a bid on his Pro Set Payne Stewart for $3.00.. link

i remember when those came out I could sell em for $10 bucks each.. i guess I can see how somebody might pay $3 for one.. I still got a few around here somewhere I think..

edited to say I always thought the Payne Stewart was a pretty sweet card other than the fact it was PRO SET..

I just sold a lot of 8 1990 PRO SET golf auto cards for the same price at the Payne Stewart. Too bad I didn't get his autograph.

I remember being at work hearing about the Jet flying off course and the fighter jets trying to push the jet into a safe direction to crash.

    Very sad.

image thats hilarious.. she almost had it right until she gave you the extra bit of trivia about Rickey being traded to the Athletics in 1976... hmm.. i really dont know.. was he acquired in the draft in 1976 via trade or something ??

  • RELISTED - Still says it is a 1976 card!
Here is what I sent to her:

Ok, as 1980 was Rickey Henderson's ROOKIE year
it would have been nearly impossible for him to be
with the Yankees in 1976 (or the Athletics)

    And just for your information
this 1989 Bowman card is currently
    worth 15 - 40 CENTS

so your 2.75 + Shipping is never going to work.

    but hey, Good Luck!

(I am a mean sob huh?)

I got the same reply so here is my
REALLY mean, but honest response to her.
    YOU ARE SUCH A WOMAN!
The card info IS correct, but you auction is still WRONG!!
You have to understand what you read (which you clearly do not.)

Henderson was DRAFTED by the Oakland A's in 1976
(and was a Rookie player on their team in 1980)
Then was Traded to NY Yankees on 12-8-84
(as stated on the card... "ACQ; TRADE WITH ATHLETICS 12-8-84"
which means "Acquired in a Trade with the Athletics on 12-8-84)

    Now,
the card ALSO says (Just below the card number #181)
    D*@ 1989 BOWMAN GUM, INC.
and THAT is what year the card was issued and the company
that issued it. THAT is what you need to list it as
so that people do not think you are stupid
(which they already do on more than one
baseball card website... that is why people are emailing you
    about it.)

and if you do not believe me about the value,
look it up on the beckett price guide website
where they allow you look up one for FREE.

Jeff,ya a little ruff on ol Georgia there,ya think?
    Sorry,but that's funny. image

Obviously Georga gal is not internet savvy, all dressed in caps but she is honest,yes...And she doesn't know baseball, or ebay ettiquette when it comes to selling sports cards. That reply (coming from you) probably made her feel like your explaining brain surgery to her like it's common sense.

Thanks for giving me something funny to think about as I spend the day mowing my driveway.image

Poor Georgia....If your out there...We've got you on our minds! But we'll forget about you if you just go and edit your title from 76 to 89.

You got the first two numbers right. image

Ray Charles would be giving us an ear full if he knew what we did to Sweet Georgia.Hopefully he'll understand we were just trying to help her out.

  • LoL,

Please Jeff, cut the lady a break. If I found some stamp or was given a coin or something, it would probably be mislabled the same way. I could see if it was a 1909 T-206 and you were trying to help her list it to get maximum bids, but it's a Rickey Henderson card. This is probably the first and last time she will ever sell a card on eBay, and thanks to your harassment, any thoughts of her joining the hobby have been erased.

Take a deep breath and lighten up, or else I will post a want ad on the WRONG BOARD image

    lol, take it easy brother,

    -Ian
  • Riccaboni,
the problem with your theory is that
several people HAD contacted her and
explained her error The FIRST time she
    listed it....
then she RELISTED with the same wrong info.

<< <i>This is probably the first and last time she will ever sell a card on eBay >>

    WRONG!
she dam well knows better because
she does not use this same ill-fated, idiotic
logic with all the 1989 Topps she is also selling
that list the player's debut dates on the back
just exactly the same as the Henderson.

I just do not like stupid people, especially after
you try to help them and THEY ARE STILL STUPID!

Ian,I understand where you were coming from but Jeff wrote her and she replied, made corrections but still didn't correct the title. We got a laugh out of the whole matter.

When you get those replies all in caps she appears to be angry and I can understand why Jeff replied in the manor he did.

    It's funny.image
  • lol,

I understand the humor in it, but it really is no big deal. lol, I'm just glad she didn't put "PSA 10?!?!?!" somewhere in the auction. I'm sure if she knew anything about cards, she would have.

Unless you buy this, this one, Jeff, is one we should all just sit back and laugh about. Seller's like her only come along once in a blue moon, I suppose.
