1909vdb DDO??

I always was told by PCGS that the Registry set was "driven by the Red Book as a guide, thus the 1958 DD. Now, I see this coin added. I have no issue with the addition, my issue is pick a story and stick to it?

Does anyone else have this recollection?

As I recall reading this is common someone stated - so please send the rolls to me and I'll cherry one for my collectionimage

Yes, I remember the story as related by DH but, let's face it, the registry is a work in progress and some people love to collect varieties. In the Lincoln series there are loads of them. Some are famous and belong. Some are not so famous but SOME people still feel they belong in the registry. Of course, since there are hundreds of Lincoln varieties in the series, a limit has to be made. The 1909vdb DD is not as famous as the 1955DD or the 1972DD, but it is better known than the 1939DD.

I guess we all have are own thoughts. For instance, since I've got just about all the proofs in the series, I sort of resent the fact that two 1960DD's and one 1971DD is included in the variety requirement. I have no problem including the 1979 and 1981 type 2's and the small date 1960 & 1970 because everyone can get them easily and they are listed in just about every book. I also think the 1990 no S proof belongs because it is a major error in the series even though it is very rare. But I recognize that decisions are made by DH based on what othe registry people believe should and should not be in the varieties sets. JMHO. Steveimage
